hey nonny hey nonny
So my cranky levels are off the charts. Therefore, to temper that, let's do a meme I never did but I enjoy!
Top Ten Disney Songs! (in no order)
1. I Will Go Sailing No More -- Toy Story
now I know exactly who I am and where I'm here for
and I will go sailing no more
This song utterly, utterly breaks my heart. It starts out despondent and then, a small sliver of hope! THAT IS DASHED. When this meme was floating around, I was saddened by the fact that I saw not one Toy Story song on those lists :( no love for the toys.
2. Little April Showers --Bambi
Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
What can compare with your beautiful sound?
This is a gorgeous song. The choral is done perfectly to the music and it sounds exactly as rain should sound, right down to the thunderstorms to the slow, last drops of the season.
3. Cruella De Vil --101 Dalmations
The curl of her lips
The ice in her stare
All innocent children
Had better beware
I learned this song when I was in school and it was such fun to sing. Also, the jazz in this piece makes me ridiculously happy. I find this is one of my favourite villain songs because nothing beats being described like a spider waiting for the kill...
4. The Ugly Bug Ball --Summer Magic
Once a lonely caterpillar sat and cried
To a sympathetic beetle by his side
I've got nobody to hug
I'm such an ug-i-ly bug
Summer Magic is an old, completely forgotten Disney film. I don't think anyone even remembers it (I know I don't!). Nevertheless, we had a whole bunch of Classic Disney music, which thankfully Summer Magic featured prominently in. And I will never forget this adorable song about a caterpillar trying to find love.
5. My Own Home --Jungle Book
Father's hunting in the forest
Mother's cooking in the home
I must go to fetch the water
'Til the day that I'm grown
I love every song in Jungle Book, to be honest. But my favourite was this little ditty that the girl sang which always struck a chord in me. It felt almost reminiscent of my own childhood in India, back before westernization sank into its teeth into it.
6. Let's Get Together --The Parent Trap
Let's get together, what do you say?
We can have a swinging time.
We'd be a crazy team.
Why don't we make a scene? Together.
Screw the Lindsay Lohan version. This was the rocking Parent Trap :|
7. I'm Wishing (One Song) --Snow White
One heart
Tenderly beating
Ever entreating
Constant and true
What's wrong with a genuine old romantic song? Simple, but my heart flutters when they get to the one song bit. Also the Broadway version of this song is absolutely gorgeous.
8. After Today --A Goofy Movie
Another Boy: No more mystery meat
Boy 1: No more gym!
Boy 2: No more gym!
Boy 3: No more gym!
Boy 4: NO MORE GYM!
This was my after school song. Whenever I got out of school, I would listen to this. Most up-beat out of school song ever. In fact, all the songs from this movie were perfect. Perfect.
9. Love --Robin Hood
Once we watched a lazy world go by
Now the days seem to fly
Life is brief, but when it's gone
Love goes on and on
I am the weakest for Disney love songs and I think out of alllllllll of Disney's love songs, this one is my favourite. It really feels like they were in love. Also, notice how this is eerily similar to the Lion King's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?"
10. Mine Mine Mine! --Pocahontas
Shove in a shovel
Uncover those lovely
Pebbles that sparkle and shine
It's gold and it's mine, mine, mine
I love how Disney villains were slowly migrating from just being evil to having motives. Sure, those motives were terrible and they were terrible people but motivations made all the difference for me. Also, HEY NONNY NONNY NO!!!!

Mine, Mine, Mine, too. I feel like most of the songs in Pocahontas just... have this really magnetic appeal for me.

Ahh, yes, another one I really enjoyed from Pocahontas was "If I never knew you".

I FEEL THE SAME ABOUT ONE SONG *_* (...there's a Broadway version? I must get it!)
GOOFY MOVIE WAS MADE OF AWESOME MUSIC. I particularly loved I 2 I *_*
Awww, I don't think I've ever seen someone mention any Robin Hood song in one of these. You can really see they feel comfortable with each other.
John R. and John S. do make a great duet xDDD

Yes, there is! There's a special Disney broadway album whose name escapes me right now BUT IT EXISTS.
"Stand Out" was the one that I enjoyed after "After Today"
YES I KNOW it's very saddening.
So many Johns...

I'll have to search for that right away.
Did you ever get to see this? It's amazing.
And there was a John Something in Pocahontas 2 too. :'D
